A couple of months ago we announced the launch of Rooftop Garden, our co-creation tool tailored to sustainability challenges. Because of all the existing knowledge and expertise in the world on this complex topic, we believe co-creation is the perfect ‘tool’ to tackle sustainability challenges.

Well, today and several Rooftop Gardens later, we can definitely say this ‘green’ version of our co-creation tool has proven its value.

For a couple of our bigger clients we’ve organised Rooftop Garden sessions, all operating in completely different markets, but with the same goal: ‘How can we become more sustainable and embrace this necessity as an opportunity?’

Various experts joined in: CSR managers and sustainability experts in aviation, finance, food, beverages, travel, marketing, design and engineering. Having them share experiences and ideas, but also share their ambitions, led to an amazing energy flow, strong synergy and great concepts.

Below some of the key lessons learned:

Inspire change – show passion and commitment, and make sustainability fun!

Be true & authentic – stay close to your core business and your company DNA

Reduce complexity – touch upon emotions in stead of numbers and technicalities

Empower the consumer - keep it up close and personal

Don’t wait, just start - no need to say more

It may seem no rocket science to you, but companies are struggling to find the right approach in translating their ambition into practice.

Some of the concepts developed during the sessions, have already been translated into prototypes and business cases by now. This once more shows that, yes, sustainability issues require a long term vision, but they absolutely can be addressed on the short term as well. As long as you don’t wait and just start…step by step…
