Making Plans
Our initiative to set up a ‘leading platform for high-grade and sustainable denim/jeans’ made some ‘giant steps’ yesterday thanks to an Expert Cocreation workshop and a seminar at A’dam Fashion Week.
Experts from education, the denim industry, finance, consulting, media, publishing and government joined us to elaborate a number of key parts of the initiative: education, business models and connections.
Overall, the consensus was that we should be unconpromisingly ambitious - otherwise there would be no point. This means that the R&D and knowledge sharing components will be key.
Interestingly, we identified the ‘water’ challenge in the jeans business as a topic that fits the Netherlands very well.
We also developed first drafts for the crafts education part and a great event concept. Thanks to all the brilliant experts.
Later in the afternoon, we held a seminar to share our plans and ideas with around 150 other experts, industry players and related stakeholders. The House of Denim story got a great reception, and it was very encouraging to see representatives from nearly 20 (!) denim companies present.
We’ve started a special ‘House of Denim’ Linked-In group for professionals who want to be kept abreast of details & developments, and a full report of our learnings will be available on slideshare soon.
