“I wonder what a group of 20 year olds would say if they were in our position?” This question, coming from Mo Ibrahim, a member of the Broadband Commission, led to a very interesting and inspiring workshop we were asked to facilitate yesterday at the ITU in Geneva during the WSIS (World Summit on the Information Society).
A group of (mainly) first year students of the EPFL (Technical Universtiy in Lausanne), were aksed to shine their light on the objectives and goals of the Broadband Commission. Read the rest of this entry »

Recently, we were pointed at the new crowd sourcing initiative of our friends at HYVE – our partnering innovation company based in Munich. They have again tapped from their large experience in innovation communities, but now with the purpose to contribute to a higher cause. For their initiative, called ‘Your idea for Japan’, they have built an online platform that involves the entire internet community to source for ideas that can help the earthquake victims in Japan during their coming period of reconstruction.
The initiative works as follows: register easily and for free at their website. After registration, you can upload your particular idea for the reconstruction of Japan. For the first 1000 ideas that are submitted, $2,- is donated to the victims of the earthquake in Japan – the other big benefit obviously rests in the submitted ideas. As benefactors at Hyve explain: “We want the Japanese victims to be the big winners of this campaign”.
Be sure to contribute your idea quickly, as the campaign only runs to May 16th!

On February 15th and 16th we organised two consumer dialogue sessions in an inspiring loft in central Barcelona.
We witnessed twenty en-lighting and enthusiastic Spanish participants co-creating and co-designing with our client, together they came up with innovative solutions and surprising developments for a newly being developed product.
Some of the reactions from the participants :
” It was a lot of fun! (I can´t wait til comes out to the market!)”
” I particularly found it very inspiring, challenging and fun.”
“It’s not often I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to experience first hand the insight into another companies product development process”.
The next dialogue session will take place in New York. We are looking forward to another inspiring session.

Soon Fronteer Strategy will cross the water and move to the NDSM-wharf. We are getting a brand new office with a great space for our co-creation sessions, a historic hangar… The original frame of the building is still in tact as well as a lot of authentic details in the interior. The whole office will be of high quality and a great place to get inspired!
Formerly the NDSM-wharf was a shipyard and is located on ‘t IJ in Amsterdam-Noord. Read the rest of this entry »

Successful co-creation doesn’t come cheap. It requieres a number of steps to deserve the trust, energy and ideas of a group or a person. One of the most important steps is to embrace a group of strangers as if you have known them for years and show that you trust them completely. For a while now, I have been looking for a visual or movie that depicts this step and I have found it. Read the rest of this entry »
