Your idea for Japan

Recently, we were pointed at the new crowd sourcing initiative of our friends at HYVE – our partnering innovation company based  in Munich. They have again tapped from their large experience in innovation communities, but  now with the purpose to contribute to a higher cause. For their initiative, called ‘Your idea for Japan’, they have built an online platform that involves the entire internet community to source for ideas that can help the earthquake victims in Japan during their coming period of  reconstruction.

The initiative works as follows: register  easily and for free at their website. After registration, you can upload your particular idea for the reconstruction of Japan. For the first 1000 ideas that are submitted, $2,- is donated to the victims of the earthquake in Japan – the other big benefit obviously rests in the submitted  ideas. As benefactors at Hyve explain: “We want the Japanese victims to be the big winners of this campaign”.

Be sure to contribute your idea quickly, as the campaign only runs to May 16th!

Crowdsourcing our new recruiter (offline recruiting is so not cool)

Successful Expert Co-Creation requires a broad and unique network to select only the very best in a certain field. In order to acquire, maintain and broaden this unique network you need people with the right skills. Eight months ago we hired our first Connector / Recruiter who would be responsible for this important task. Our first Connector / Recruiter Nikki Wiesman took up this challenging job and proved that her role is a vital one within Fronteer Strategy. Unfortunately she left Fs to pursue her dreams of becoming a mother and establishing her own company called ‘De Buurtboer‘. Of course we wish her a lot of success in her new role(s) but we had to fill the important gap she left behind. Read the rest of this entry »

nokia-n900Standing on each-others’ shoulders

Maemo – at the risk of stating the obvious -is Nokia’s Linux-based operating system, developed by a global community of open source programmers and enthusiasts. The Maemo community is independent from Nokia and is run by its own peer-elected council. All future high-end Nokia devices (Like the new N900 out soon) will run on Maemo, which means that users will be able to program, develop and share applications freely: a great perspective!

This weekend, the Maemo community organised its third annual conference at Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek. Parallel to the ‘regular’ conference program, Fronteer Strategy was asked to develop a co-creative development process on the topic of ‘Creativity on the Move’.

The Next Level in Opening Up

next-level-opening-upWhen we would have to choose a ‘perfect’ client, it would be one that has the same ambition that we have: being out there on the frontier, doing stuff others haven’t done before. I’m pleased to announce that we have found one: Nokia, already keen on co-creation, is going to stretch its boundaries when it comes to opening up to the public.

We are currently involved in a co-creation project organised around the Maemo Summit. Maemo – for those of you who are as software-illiterate as I am –  is an open source Read the rest of this entry »

We need a community!

social-strategy-talkOne thing is clear, communities are hot. They seem to be popping up all around us as an increasing number of companies and people have the growing urge to ‘start a community’. But where to start?

Last week we attended the 3rd Social Strategy Talk at the Westerunie, titled ‘Doe mij een community’. PSV, de Rabobank, a podcast priest and an Obama campaign member shared their experience and knowledge on creating and maintaining a community. Below a little more on the lessons learned. Hey Baby,…wanna Poken?

pokenPOKEN… BUSINESS CARDS 2.0?

One of the other partners of the FIFI congress last week, was a company called POKEN, an interesting new product. Based on relatively simple Radio Frequency Identity Device technology, it enables you to exchange contact data, almost like swapping business cards.

Cleverly, you can add LINKEDIN profiles too, connecting the gizmo to established social networks.

By ‘high-fiving’ your counterpart, the tags are exchanged. The poken lights up (green light) when the data has been swapped. You then stick it in a USB port to upload and hey presto…a new friend.

Watch out for the limited edition ‘Geisha’ poken! More information at www.doyoupoken.com .
